Mount Pleasant Cemetery

LEVEL 1 & 2 CLASSES

See map.

To find it, don't use your GPS...it will take you to the Mount Pleasant Ave. entrance!

Driving: Enter the Yonge St. gates, turn left immediately, and follow the yellow lane divider for about 45 seconds. When the yellow line divider veers to the right (away from the white lane divider…see photo below), follow the yellow lane divider for 10 more seconds….look for parked cars and people with poles! Pull over and park, keeping your wheels off the grass. (We have permission to park here, but the gardeners are very particular about the grass.)

TTC: Exit at Davisville station; walk south on the east side of Yonge St. Once you see the cemetery on your left, continue walking. Enter through the big gates. Follow the driving instructions above. About a 10-15 minute walk. (You can also exit the TTC at St. Clair station and walk north.)

 What to wear & bring:

  1. Wear what you’d wear for a brisk walk (e.g., summer/spring/fall: T-shirt, shorts/tights/pants, windbreaker, etc; winter: tights/pants, light vest/jacket, hat/headband, warm mitts/gloves, etc. See my Blog page for photos and ideas.

  2. The walking surface is smooth asphalt - no potholes, mud or tree roots! Running shoes are fine; light trail shoes provide even more support and decrease fatigue.

  3. Leave purses and heavy backpacks at home or in your car (or in my car if you come by TTC).

GENTLE BEGINNERS CLASSES

Meet in the northwest corner of the cemetery, near the Merton St. pedestrian entrance (see red marker on map).

Driving: Enter the cemetery’s Yonge St. gates, take an immediate left and drive north to the meeting spot (see marker on map). Park, keeping your wheels off the grass. (We have permission to park inside, but the gardeners are very particular about the grass!)

TTC: Exit at Davisville station; walk south to Merton, and look for the laneway off Merton that leads to the cemetery pedestrian entrance.

What to Wear & Bring: see above.

QUICK-START CLINICS & PRIVATE CLASSES

Meet at the large Funeral Centre parking lot.

Enter the cemetery gate on the east side of Mount Pleasant Avenue. Follow signs for the Funeral Centre and its big parking lot. (About one minute of driving or five minutes of walking.)

Park at the north end of the parking lot (away from the building).

See you there. I’ll be the person with the poles!

What to Wear & Bring: see above.
